Römer an der Donau
Die Donau bildete im Römischen Reich die natürliche Grenze nach Norden hin. Entlang dieser Grenze erbauten die Römer den Römischen Donau-Limes, einen mächtigen Schutzwall gegen die wilden Nordmänner.
Noch heute zeugen zahlreiche Funde und Bauwerke von dieser Ära. So widmete sich auch die OÖ Landesausstellung 2018 dem Römischen Erbe in Oberösterreich. Begeben Sie sich - mit dem Rad oder mit dem Auto - auf eine Zeitreise zu den Römern an der Donau zwischen Passau und Hainburg.
Eine lohnende Reise in die Zeit der Römer ist die Tour auf dem Römerradweg (R6). Von Passau ausgehend führt er den Inn entlang zuerst durch Bayern und dann quer durch die Hügel des Innviertels an den Attersee. Von hier aus geht weiter der Traun entlang über Wels bis nach Enns. Der Römerradweg führt zu vielen Fundstellen und Spuren aus römischer Zeit.
Der Donauradweg (R1) verläuft sowohl am Nord- als auch am Südufer des Stromes und folgt damit der natürlichen Nordgrenze des einstigen "Imperium Romanum". Es sind die "Römer-Rastplätze" die hier, wo Roms Legionäre entlang des Limes die Grenze schützten, Auskunft über das Erbe Roms geben.
