Bishop's Court

Linz, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The historical Bischofshof is a residential house and the seat of the diocesan bishop.

Kremsmünster Abbey built this baroque building according to plans by the important architect Jakob Prandtauer (1719 - 1726). It initially served as the abbot's quarters in the provincial capital and from 1765 as the official residence of Governor Thürheim. The Bischofshof is the most important Baroque secular building in the city and is still the seat of the bishop today.
It is not open to the public, but can be viewed from the outside.
