Donautaler Mostkellerei

Obermühl an der Donau, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Erich Aumüller in the Upper Danube Valley: where the "Donauperle" frizzante and regional drinks at the Donautaler Mostkellerei are a delight

If you only know Erich Aumüller as the owner of the Aumüller Fischgasthof, fish cook, hunter, farmer and forester, you probably haven't heard of his Donautaler Mostkellerei in Obermühl. This is where traditional craftsmanship meets modern hospitality, where guests are welcomed with open arms and can enjoy a view of the gently flowing Danube.

As a family-run business, great importance is attached to regional products that are produced with a great deal of love and craftsmanship. Quality you can taste! In addition to his apple cider, certified cider sommelier Erich Aumüller is particularly proud of one thing: his pear frizzante called "Donauperle". Together with numerous other cider and juice varieties, the Donautaler Mostkellerei offers a comprehensive flavour experience! Here, the cider tastes "almost like wine", which is particularly evident in the "fruit wines" - such as the "Hudler", a frizzante. And because his cider almost tastes like wine, it is not surprising that Erich is now actually venturing into viticulture. The shrewd food refiner has planted vines directly behind his cider cellar in his parents' house in Grafenau in soil that the Romans already appreciated as a wine-growing area in the Danube Valley. Whether the project will succeed and his wines will soon win as many prizes as his cider is still written in the stars.

Erich Aumüller, who puts his heart and soul and creativity into the kitchen and cider cellar, has made it his mission to bring regional and seasonal delicacies into the glass and onto the plate. The fresh Danube fish comes from the hotel's own fishing waters and the game is sourced from the hotel's own hunt. The fruit for its musts comes from its own orchards. This passion is also reflected in the success of the Donautaler Mostkellerei - Erich Aumüller has been a member of the select ranks of "Mostsommeliers" since 2007. Time and again, his pear musts in particular are among the best musts in Austria.

At the Donautaler Mostkellerei, everything that is produced on site can also be experienced! In addition to award-winning cider products, there are also fine snack specialities from the region. Erich Aumüller and his family also offer exciting cellar tours and tastings, which can be individually tailored to the wishes of the travel group.

The cider cellar or inn are ideal places to visit, especially for travellers on the Donau Cycle Path between Passau and Linz. Whether it's a glass of cider and a little refreshment with a view of the Danube or an overnight stay to recharge your batteries after the first stage of your cycle tour - a stay at the Donautaler Mostkellerei or the Fischgasthof promises an authentic experience full of refreshing drinks, regional delicacies and warm hospitality.
