In 866, a chapel was built here in honour of St. Othmar of St. Gall. In 994, St. Wolfgang embarked on a journey along the Danube. When he arrived in the Eferding basin, he felt the end of his life approaching and had himself brought to the chapel of St Othmar, where he died;
The monastery in Pupping was founded in 1477 by the Counts of Schaunberg, who also brought the Franciscans to Pupping. They also had a new church built in place of the old Wolfgangskirchlein, which was consecrated in 1490 by Auxiliary Bishop Albert of Passau.Find out more ...
