LOMO ALTO ORGANICO - MARTIN AND KATHARINA SAGEDER: A FARM IN THE MÜHLVIERTEL THAT COMBINES QUALITY, ANIMAL WELFARE AND CONSCIOUS ENJOYMENT

In the Danube region, high up in Pfarrkirchen im Mühlkreis, where time seems to tick a little slower and nature sets the rhythm, lies Martin and Katharina Sageder's farm called LOMO ALTO organico. As soon as you enter the courtyard, the smell of barbecues and open fires wafts towards you - you realise you've come to the right place. Every decision is characterised by respect and responsibility for their cows - old cows, mind you. Martin and Katharina specialise in meat from cows that have led a long and fulfilling life. For the Sageder family, this is more than just a profession: it is an honest promise to animal welfare and nature and to the conscious handling of food. They run their farm with deep respect for the animals and a great deal of dedication.

"We really owe our economic survival to the cows," says Martin Sageder. You can tell how much he values not only his profession, but also the animals, which can live up to 20 years. For the Sageder family, they are clearly the centrepiece of the farm. The long life of the cows and the special maturing of the meat develop a unique flavour that you can taste and that stands for LOMO ALTO organico. From the Spanish Lomo Alto - which means "high rib" and is known as ribeye - to traditional salami, the farm offers a wide range of products. Artisanal processing and proven maturing methods make every piece of meat a pleasure to taste.

The Mühlviertel region, with its barren soils and harsh climate, characterises the Sageder family's farm in every respect. Cattle farming has a long tradition in this region, as the conditions here make arable farming difficult. For cows that turn the grass and herbs of the meadows into high-quality food, this region is just right. "Only a cow that has had a good life will produce meat that is just as good," says Martin. This philosophy runs through the entire farm and makes LOMO ALTO organico synonymous with ethical and high-quality meat production.

All of the Sageder family's products can be enjoyed at weekly markets in Linz and Pfarrkirchen. For guests with a little more time, a visit to the "KUHlinarium", which is located directly on the Penzenstein hiking circuit, is well worthwhile. It offers a wide range of opportunities to get to know LOMO ALTO organico even better. Visitors can learn more about organic cattle farming and meat processing and familiarise themselves with the wide range of products on offer. Guided tours and tastings show how much care and dedication goes into every product and how respect for their animals at LOMO ALTO organico creates a unique meat culture that stands for quality, ethics and conscious enjoyment.
