Permanent hiking trail

Start at the market square along Klostersteig (monastery path) – Schlossberg – at Reutner Inn continue along Ettenberg agricultural road to „Herzog“ Farm, turn left at the garage along a meadow path to Sarmingbach stream. Cross this and turning right follows the climb after 20 m road left on a forest track to the „Pointner“, „Unterlehner“ (Austria‘s last rural chandler), „Leonhard“ farms to „Hinteredt“ forester‘s house. Downhill to  „Windschopf“ along the forest road to „Schneiderlehner“ and „Wolflehner“ all the way to Hasenebene plain. Here we walk along the forest road heading south to „Hinterberger“ and continue to the swimming lake along Sarmingbach stream and Klostersteig to the market.

• Enjoy and pause at this idyllic forest clearing, where Hinteredt forester‘s house is located.


• On hot days, bring swimwear to cool off in the lake.


• For those interested in culture, a visit to Waldhausen monastery church is recommended (audio guide available from the Donau-Geschichten-App (Danube history app).
